Fascinating small museum with a working model of the old granite works.

On Main Street overlooking the harbor. A newly constructed museum with exhibits depicting life in Stonington and the granite quarrying activities that went on there a century ago. Deer Isle granite is a wonderful pinkish color. Still quarried and sold for kitchen counters, etc.

They have a fabulous historical model of a granite quarry in Stonington and the transportation for workers to the quarry site.
