Residence Euxinograd - Prince Battenberg visited Varna in 1880 and he was welcomed at the monastery “St. Dimitar”, which was situated at the same place, where now the residence stands. The monarch liked the local nature so much, that two years later the Varna municipality bestowed him the monastery and its adjoining lands.

Only 8 km north of Varna, by the sea, is the first and oldest out-of-town residence of the Bulgarian rulers of the last Bulgarian kingdom. This is the famous Euxinograd, famous for its magnificent gardens, a monument of park art of world renown. The palace is an immovable cultural value of national importance. The whole "Euxinograd" spreads over nearly 900 acres of land owned by the Bulgarian state, and includes in addition to the main building of the palace, greenhouses for rare plants and fresh flowers, French garden and English park, wine cellar with newly planted vineyards, sports complex , several holiday villas, the former residence of the head of state, a hotel and administrative part with a restaurant, as well as several buildings, which in the past housed the royal servants and the stable.
