Whiskeytown Lake’s beautiful crystal-clear waters, surrounded by mountain peaks, are perhaps the most prominent feature of the park. However, water-based recreation is only a small part of what the park has to offer. Whiskeytown is an excellent gem in Redding’s outdoor crown. The whiskeytown falls area is good if you want a smaller lake experience. At the same time, the main lake is great for all sorts of water activities.

Lake and waterfalls, what else do you need? We absolutely love spending time here: kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, rope swinging, waterfall jumping- the fun is endless.

Especially on hot days, this lake is the go-to place. You can swim, hike and kayak. Some trails include waterfalls. Brandy Creek and Oak Flats are favorites. Unfortunately our big fire in 2018 started out here, so ask at the visitor center re what parts of the park are open.
