4/5 trains are the express trains. 6 train is local , but is the best train in NYC for frequency...you get a train every 1-3 minutes so you are not waiting too long to head uptown/downtown.

This line will whisk you to Upstate New York and all its glories in no time. Day trips to Cold Springs etc are easily achievable if you're starting in Harlem.
