In Chattanooga for just a quick stop? Sunset rock is the perfect spot to enjoy an overlook view without the time restraint of a hike. You’ve probably already guessed it by the name, but the sunsets are glorious. ☀️👌🏽

A 1/8-mile hike (down & up a rough stone staircase) and wonderful overlook of Lookout Valley where the sun sets. The parking area is limited, so you might expect to walk another 1/8 mile in order to park a block or two away.

This is probably my favorite spot in Chattanooga. And it’s free! You drive up Lookout Mountain, park in the small parking lot, and take a short hike down to see the spectacular view! Great for a picnic lunch or a romantic view of the sunset. You can also continue your hike if you’d like, as the path continues past sunset rock.
