Sand beach is a gorgeous little beach (290 yds long) nestled between mountains and rocky shores on the east side of Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park. Access is provided via Park Loop Road just south of the entrance fee station in a Bar Harbor, Maine. The beach is largely comprised of unique sand and shell fragments created by the pounding surf. Note: No pets are allowed on the beach from May 15th through September 15th.

lovely beach of crushed shell. At the end of the beach is a trail to Great Head, fairly easy, great views. Also at the end there is a beautiful stream that feeds into the ocean .. sometimes it gets backed up. Bring a blanket and a lunch you will want to stay.. no dogs allowed. View is incredible of Bee Hive mountain.
