“ Two of New Zealand's oldest buildings are situated in the Kerikeri Basin. Kemp House and the Stone Store are the only survivors from the Church Missionary Society's second Anglican mission to New Zealand, founded in 1819 on land granted to the Reverend Samuel Marsden by the powerful Nga Puhi chief, Hongi Hika. Kemp House is the oldest surviving European building in New Zealand. The Stone Store is the country's oldest surviving stone building.”

“The husband and wife couple from California always have a good yarn to spin. The wine is gorgeous and the port is also outstanding. My pick - the rose and with a glass (or bottle) of this on the patio... you cannot go wrong! Summer in a glass!”

“Makana Chocolates & Café. An attractive and bustling café for a rather expensive imported croissant and coffee or for a more kiwi and perhaps more child-friendly option visit the Kerikeri Bakehouse for a pie and a drink further down the hill on Kerikeri Road. Don’t miss out on the Makana Chocolate Shop next door to Makana Café to see the making process and which also serves a free sample upon entry. Their Macadamia Brickle is to die for!”
