A site of great cultural significance to New Zealand's indigenous and European people. This is where the country's bi-cultural nationhood was first formed wit the signing of a treaty in the late 1800s.

“This is a great cycleway going from coast to coast. Begin at Opua on the East Coast and travel 84 kms to Horeke on the West Coast. We are in the middle - between Kaikohe and Okaihau and happy to pick up and deliver for you to begin your 2nd day of cycling if you would like to take 2 days.”

Point of Interest
“Even if you don't play golf the views from the club are spectacular. You can park the car from several locations and just enjoy the view. If you do play golf, I recommend the back 9 holes if it's a decision between 9 or 18 holes so that you get to enjoy the bay while playing. The course itself is quite good and they rent clubs and trolleys or carts. ”

“"Wairere Boulders" is a Nature Park created on private property. Here you enjoy a world unique basalt boulder formation on a stroll through the Wairere valley. You will see the only eroded basalt rocks in the world (as far as known).”
