My favorite museum on museum island: This building is already a gem of its own. And the collection is houses is breath-taking, too. Easy to get to by tram (M5).

This museum was recently restored after being out of use since the WWII. The architecture is amazing as is the bust of Nefratiti.

If you only have time for one museum, that would be my recommandation. David Chipperfield has restored it beautifully into every detail. Not to mention the permanent and temporary exhibits.
