74 Onekahakaha Rd, Hilo, HI 96720 Familiar recreation stops with kid-friendly wading & tidal pools, picnic shelters & play equipment. Very safe and easy to swim in. We often pop by when going into Hilo for supplies. Our kiddos love this spot.

Looking for a good beach to safely play with the kids? Onekahakeha Beach Park is one of our personal faves. Shaded grassy areas with picnic tables, the perfect wave break allowing kids to play safely in the ocean. Be sure to bring a snorkel and check out the fish!

Shallow waters with unique profile. Park with picnic tables, bathrooms, and plenty of open space and parking. Perfect spot for keiki (kids), but pretty & peaceful scenery for anyone. About 10-15 minute drive from the Loft.

Onekahakaha Beach Park is a place for swimming, fishing, picnicking, and horseshoes. There are lifeguards, restrooms, picnic tables, pavilions with electricity, fire pits, showers, drinking water, ADA accessible. Surrounding the cove are a few tide pools, which are sometimes visited by sea turtles. However, this pool is not as children-friendly as it has a rockier and deeper bottom and is not protected by the breakwater.
