Puheke is an absolutely stunning beach with squeaky white sands. The water is crystal clear and there is often surf here that is great for surfers and body boarders. The best wave is at the far end of the beach and this can be accessed at low tide

As you drive away from the beach parking area, you will notice a road that heads up to Mount Puheke. When you get to the top you can walk up the mount or take the coastal path to Karikari beach.
The coastal path is not very obvious but you will see the tracks that others have made when you get closer.

Matai Bay is an iconic place that most New Zealanders have heard of. There are two beautiful bays and the photo opportunities are endless. There is quite often surf here too.
There is a DOC camp site here too.

This is about as Far North as you can get in New Zealand. There is a visitors centre and you can walk to the lighthouse and take some photos with friends and family.
You can also look out to sea and watch the turbulent water where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea meet.
