Recommend to head there early - no later than 9am to get the best choice of fare and before its crowded by the Auckland day trippers. Also the last Sunday of the month is the Matakana Craft Market 8am-12noon.

A great half day trip - easy going river paddling but over a good part of the day - check your tide times as you must leave Puhoi town on the river when nearly high, so that you are into Wenderholm before its low.

This is great for hiking and swimming. A walk down to Te Muri from the top of Ngarewa Rd to the South of Sullivans Bay will give you two choices - a walk up and over Cudlip point, of straight down walking south toward Wenderholm where the north side of Wenderholm is Te Muri Beach - surfable waves in the right conditions. But a beautiful little inlet that rises and falls with the tide to make your own private swimming pool!
