The beautiful waterfalls are located right across the Switzerland border which is not far from the guest house. There is an entry fee to see the falls but it is a nice afternoon trip. Here is a money saving tip: You must have a Swiss vignette for your car to drive on the Autobahns in Switzerland. This costs approximately 40€. BUT if you take the side roads (set your GPS to non-highway roads) you can access the Rhinefalls without ever going on the Swiss Autobahn after leaving the German border, therefore not having to buy the vignette. If you have any questions about this, just ask us!

Small Tip: you can of course drive here, it is only ca. 4km away or you can take the train or bus for free one stop to Ludwigshafen using your Echt Bodensee Card included with your Sipplingen Kurtaxe. Then you can rent the bike and ride it back to Sipplingen along the bike path. It is mostly flat and an easy ride. Of course when you return the bike in Ludwigshafen, you can take the bus or train back to Sipplingen for free. Easy!

You can walk around a large wooded area and feed popcorn to the monkeys. No cages, just free range monkeys living in their own habitat. There is also a beautiful nature reserve park with different wildlife and worth going to see. Fun for adults and children, not expensive, we would highly recommend going here for everyone! Not far from the guest house, ca. 15 minute drive.
Family fun at the waterpark! This is in Switzerland, close to Zurich but it is not a very far drive. This is good when the weather is nice or when the weather is rainy because all of the waterslides are indoors. There is also an outdoor wellness pool. This could be a fun trip just for the waterpark or you can visit Zurich city for the day and spend a few hours at the waterpark before heading back to the guest house. Please keep in mind that you will probably have to buy a Switzerland Vignette to drive on the motorway to get here unless you go by train.

This is an indoor waterpark/beach! Great for good weather and bad weather, in both summer and winter... year round! This is one of the largest indoor waterparks in southern Germany. There are lots of waterslides for children and adults of all ages and a very large beach/pool area, including large wellness areas and "Saunawelt". Titisee is about 45 minutes from the guest house and in the Feldberg/Schwarzwald ski area. There are other fun things to do in the Titisee area, just google and make a fun day trip from Sipplingen!

Titisee is about 45 minutes from the guest house and in the Feldberg/Schwarzwald ski area. There are other fun things to do in the Titisee area, just google and make a fun day trip from Sipplingen!

You can get to this by driving or you can take the ferry directly to the island directly from Sipplingen or Überlingen. Small Tip: Unfortunately ferry rides are not included with the Bodensee card. You can of course easily walk down to the Sipplingen Landungsplatz (beside the Riva Restaurant) and catch the ferry from there. You can also use the Echt Bodensee Card for a free bus ride to the Überlingen Landungsplatz stop. Then you can take the ferry from there directly to Mainau (then you only pay for the ferry ride and it is actually a nice way to go since it's a great view). Sometimes there are more pickup times with the ferry throughout the day from Überlingen so just check the ferry times online to decide.

You should definitely go here! The view of the lake is absolutely amazing and it is free to visit! This is an old pink colored convent overlooking the lake and is surrounded by vineyards. Very unique! It is free to visit the Birnau church and they have a very nice church service on Sundays. This is only about 15 minutes drive from the guest house. Small Tip: before or afterwards, you can walk across the street to the Markgraf von Baden winery (it is maybe a 5 minute walk). They have a very good restaurant, including a special priced lunch menu, and of course very good wine :) Call in advance to check opening days and hours of the restaurant.

You can even walk across the border to Switzerland with one foot in Germany and the other foot in Switzerland as the main city ends at the Swiss border town of Kreuzlingen. There are always lots of events going on in Konstanz so check the city website to see what is happening on the day you want to go. Small tip: You can drive there from Sipplingen in about 40 minutes. You can also get there by train for free from Sipplingen to Konstanz city center using your Echt Bodensee Card you get free with the Sipplingen Kurtaxe, that way you don't have to worry about parking. Another option is you could take the bus for free (with the Echt Bodensee Card) to Meersburg then take the ferry across the lake directly to Konstanz. You must pay for the ferry but it is not expensive and a very nice and scenic ride. We would recommend that at least one way, then you can take the train back for free to Sipplingen.
