Neighbourhood
According to a 2021 research by Torrens University, Lindisfarne is one of the few suburbs in Tasmania with the highest median life expectancy age of 85 years!
Its unique location offers nearness to the city (only 15 mins drive to city center), while affording its residents easy escapes from city life with its many walks and parks hallmarked with day and night panorama views of the harbor, Tasman bridge, Mt Wellington and the River Derwent.
The Lindisfarne village (a 15 mins stroll from our place) nests its community hub where residents meet for their everyday essentials in Woolworths, pharmacies, post office, cafes and bakeries, liquor store, gourmet meat store, medical clinics etc.
Residents can also take a 5 min drive to Eastland (Hobart's biggest) shopping center. With its generous free parking (of up to 3 hours in its indoor carpark), one can relax and enjoy more eateries (Macdonald, KFC, Muffin break, Coffee club, Subway, Nando's) and wander around Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, Big W, BWS, Village cinema, the Kangaroo Bay parklands etc.
Simmons Park is one of Clarence's iconic parks situated on the Esplanade in Lindisfarne (10 mins stroll from our place). The park has stunning and picturesque views with play equipment to suit all ages and all abilities. Play equipment includes swings, carousels, balance beams, trampoline, and giant climbing pyramid. Fitness equipment includes leg press, aerobic cycle, chest press, elliptical trainer and body twist.
Lindisfarne also hosts the ANZAC park which is 20 mins stroll from our place. The park is named as one of the places of pride listed in the National register of war memorials. The well maintained park imparts histories' richness with photographic records and plaques detailing stories of courage lest we forget.

Sightseeing around Lindisfarne
Here are some of my personal favorite places to go to around Lindisfarne.
3 min drive or a 10 min stroll from our place to Simmons park.
Walk further along the park towards Rose Bay and enjoy some of the most amazing views of River Derwent, Tasman bridge and Mt Wellington along the way. If you wish, you may want to walk all the way towards the Tasman bridge until you arrive at the bottom of the bridge.

The entry is not obvious. It is situated next to a tennis court. Look for the cannon at its entry and walk through the gate.
When you arrive, take a few deep breathes as you enjoy the canopy of the huge trees.
Take time to visit each station, look at the photographs, read the information in the plaques and be inspired by the many stories of courage.
Walk down towards a dirt carpark where you can see the panorama views of River Derwent, Tasman bridge and Mt Wellington all laid bare before you.
Take another deep breathe and be thankful for this moment you get to enjoy!

You can explore the 45 mins circuit track, or also climb to the top of the hill. There are panoramic views from the top and you can also view wartime bunkers completed by army reservists as a training exercise during World War 2.

The Montague Bay reserve is 6 mins drive or 45 mins walk from our place. You can walk or drive past the Tasman bridge to reach this place.
Here, you will see a memorial sculpture called "Impact" in memory of those who tragically lost their lives in the Tasman Bridge disaster on 05 January 1975.

On top of Rosny Hill, you can catch some stunning day and night city views with the Tasman bridge, River Derwent and Mt Wellington.

On top of Rosny Hill, you can catch some stunning day and night city views with the Tasman bridge, River Derwent and Mt Wellington.
From ANZAC Park, walk or drive to the juncture between Natone street and Talune street. Then walk or drive to the end of Talune street towards the river. You will uncover a coastal track towards Geilston Bay that the locals love!
This walk is around 3.4 km one way from Lindisfarne. So take water and some snacks. Wear good walking shoes as there is a rocky narrow gravel track (which I personally love). There are toilets, BBQs and a playground when you arrive the carpark at Geilston Bay.

Derwent StreetThe Bellerive Beach is a beautiful beach only 8 mins drive from our place. Here, you can check out the Kangaroo Bluff Battery Historic Site nearby, or walk along the Victoria Esplanade for stunning views of the city and Mt Wellington along the River Derwent.
The Risdon Brook Dam is 7 mins drive from our place.
Please check their website for their current opening hours. The last I checked, the park is open from 7:30am to 8pm (during daylight savings time only) and 7:30am to 4:30pm (all other times).
If you prefer to stroll and take pictures along the way, factor in extra time (at least 1.25 hours) to complete the 4.5km circuit made of gravel track.
Bring water, snacks, good walking shoes and enjoy!
