It is located at the top of the highest peak of the island's shoreline in the northwest coast near Palaiokastritsa and built on particularly precipitous and rocky terrain. It stands 1,000 ft (305 m) on a steep cliff above the sea and surveys the City of Corfu and the mountains of mainland Greece to the southeast and a wide area of Corfu toward the northeast and northwest. Angelokastro is one of the most important fortified complexes of Corfu. It was an acropolis which surveyed the region all the way to the southern Adriatic and presented a formidable strategic vantage point to the occupant of the castle.

The seabed has uneven rocks, so jumping is not recommended for visitors unfamiliar with the hazards. The beach is not recommended when it is windy.

Spectacular beach of Palaiokastritsa bay located at about 2km of Liapades. Can be accessed by boat from Gefyra Beach (Liapades) or Palaiokastritsa. Exciting alternative is by walking downhill through a narrow path with wonderful vegetation. The beach is covered with smooth and shiny white pebbles and is surrounded by the gorgeous green mountains. On the left side of the beach there is a short hiking path over the hill that leads to Limni beach. Rovinia is a quite secluded beach with no infrastructure, maintaining its natural beauty. There is sometimes just a cantine boat offering sandwiches and cold drinks.

Spectacular beach of Palaiokastritsa bay located at about 2km of Liapades. Can be accessed by boat from Gefyra Beach (Liapades) or Palaiokastritsa. Exciting alternative is by walking downhill through a narrow path with wonderful vegetation. The beach is covered with smooth and shiny white pebbles and is surrounded by the gorgeous green mountains. On the left side of the beach there is a short hiking path over the hill that leads to Limni beach. Rovinia is a quite secluded beach with no infrastructure, maintaining its natural beauty. There is sometimes just a cantine boat offering sandwiches and cold drinks.
