As an the entry to and from the Appalachian Trail for through and day hikers Damascus has a active street scene during the trail season from early Spring into the late Fall.
Also a huge Creeper Trail bike rental/shuttle town for bikers going up to the top of The Creeper Trail there are a lot of people in season. Add in fun places for antique hunters, art lovers, and an weekend Farmer's Market and you have a not-to-be-missed beautiful little town. Walk the sidewalks and side road to see white steepled churches, turn of the century homes, and gardens all around!
