One of my favourite local restaurants. Small menu, big quality! Portuguese tapas, great steaks, a fantastic tuna tartare (top of my list!). An incredible wine selection and very knowledgeable service.
And please leave room for dessert, you won't regret it...

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! Poké bowls, açaí bowls and yoghurt bowls, super fresh, biological and mega delicious. Specialty coffee, Hawaiian beers, healthy juices, and more. Can't recommend this place enough!

This traditional Portuguese restaurant does not have a great view or a picturesque location, but it is one of the last places in Praia da Rocha where you can enjoy typical, simple foods like charcoal grilled fish.
Very busy in July and August as it is a favourite among Portuguese holidaymakers and locals alike.

Very busy in July and August as it is a favourite among Portuguese holidaymakers and locals alike.
A really nice restaurant on the beach, with fresh fish, great meat dishes and a lovely atmosphere. Hosts Guida and Jay will take good care of you. You might wish to try some Dutch specialties, as well, as Jay moved from the Netherlands to Portugal many many years ago.

For when you have had enough of Portuguese food, this is the best burger restaurant in town. A great selection of craft beers turns this into a special place! Vegetarian/vegan options available.

Great place for breakfast! Good food at decent prices. Vegan options on the menu.
Humberto's is the place to go if you are looking for a nice steak. The meats here are really good, as is the famous Fish Soup. Save space for dessert: the Crème Brûlée is excellent!
The service is super friendly and competent. Prices are adequate for the quality of the food served.
Unless you are visiting in low season, booking a table is recommended.

Hiking & Walking
We love to walk and to hike all over the Algarve. These are some of our favourite trails in the vicinity of Praia da Rocha, but there are loads more! Just ask and we're happy to share our experience

A fantastic hiking trail departing from Ferragudo. Walk along the stunning cliffs and explore some landmarks along the way: a lighthouse, a watchtower, an "algar" and more. Trail of Headlands
A fantastic hiking trail departing from Ferragudo. Walk along the stunning cliffs and explore some landmarks along the way: a lighthouse, a watchtower, an "algar" and more. Not difficult but somewhat intense. I'm happy to provide more details about this trail, as well as other hiking and walking options in the area.
One of our favourite "lazy" hikes. Very easy, very laid back, very pleasant walk from the Mexilhoeira train station through the marsh area of Alvor and back. We usually end it with a picnic at the train station :)

If you want to go on a guided hike, there is no other company I'd recommend: Michael is your guide at Quimera and he will make sure you have an amazing time. Michael is very experienced (he's actually the person that got us hooked on hiking in the first place!) and his extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna, and the history of the Algarve will make your hike or walk an incredible experience.

Situated in a former canning factory, the local museum is well worth a visit.
The marina is located at the Eastern end of Praia da Rocha. It's a lovely area for a stroll - don't miss walking out to the Lighthouse! - and to enjoy a drink at one of the bars. A great spot for sunrise and sunset photos, but also to watch the movement of boats entering and leaving the Arade river.

A great spot for sunrise and sunset photos, but also to watch the movement of boats entering and leaving the Arade river.
Ferragudo is a lovely, picturesque village just across the river from Portimão. You'll love walking its narrow streets, up to the church that offers a beautiful panoramic view. Great fish restaurants along the riverside!

On Sunday mornings, visit the little farmers' market!
