Try the "stokvis kroketjes" !

It serves many draft beers (most of them Belgium ones) and it's a place where residents of all kinds gather, students, yups, young parents, everyone. Basic food that matches well with their beers. Try the "stokvis kroketjes" !
Just across the bridge, "Gent aan de Schinkel" offers a sunny waterside terrace. Food and drinks.

If you're into Indonesian food... you HAVE to go to Kokkita! Perfect place for take away food, that's why there's always a line. Also not expensive, you have a 1person meal for around €5 and a bigger portion for € 8,20. Please note that they close at 8.30pm!

Great macarons and sweet things. One of the owners, Nick, was trained by Amsterdam's most famous patissier Holtkamp. So I'm very glad the couple Linda and Nick opened their shop nearby.

The newest healthy place in the area! Lavinia offers great healthy food in a nice trendy place. All vegan, gluten free etc. Cosy place to have breakfast or lunch all day. I love their sandwich with mashed avocado, poached egg and if you want, smoked salmon. Delicious! If you're more in for something sweet, you have to try their carrot cake.

If you're in 'down town' Amsterdam, this place is a great escape from all touristic restaurants. It's also a hotel, but I love the restaurant and it's cosy yet stylish ambiance. I recommend to make a reservation.

After the renovation (which took almost a decade) the new Rijksmuseum is absolutely stunning. Go watch Rembrandts most famous works in a incredible beautiful part of the building. Also great exhibitions, check their website www.rijksmuseum.nl.
The restaurant is fantastic, almost Michelin level!

Because you're staying so close to the most beautiful park of Amsterdam, and one of the most known parks of the country, you should definitely make a nice walk. It's ideal for an early morning run. There are several places to sit down, have a coffee and enjoy the sun.

The manmade forest Amsterdamse Bos offers nice walking (or running) routes of 5, 10 or 21 km. There's also a goat farm which is fun to visit (especially with kids), it feels like you're in the countryside.

You can park your car for maximum 72 hours in a row in the parking garage underneath the Olympic Stadion. You get a tram ticket which you HAVE to use to go to the city center, that will give you the low fare of approximately €8/24hours parking costs.

Tram 1 direction ‘Osdorp de Aker’ and tram 17 direction ‘Osdorpplein’ bring you to Station Lelylaan, where you can hop on the train to the airport Schiphol.
When you arrive on Schiphol airport and you take the train to Lelylaan, you use tram 1 direction Muiderpoortstation or tram 17 direction Centraal Station. In both cases you get off at the second stop called ‘Surinameplein’. Then it’s a 5-10 min walk to my home.

This street offers many nice shops and boutiques, restaurants and great places to have breakfast or lunch (such as Le Pain Quotidien). Upperclass area, but very cute part of Amsterdam. Not so many tourists around.

On the north side of the Central Station (after having taken the ferry to cross the "IJ") you'll find the EYE, a modern building that offers many cultural and art house movies. A good reason to take the free ferry for 5 minutes and visit this side of Amsterdam!
Next to the EYE opened -very recently- a high building its doors, apparently you can go up to watch the incredible view on Amsterdams skyline.
PLEASE NOTE that on the map on the right, it's not located on the right spot?! No idea why. They EYE is located on the north side of the water, north of Central Station.
