Day Excursions on the Island

Sightseeing

ROQUE NUBLO via TEROR and TEJEDA Roque Nublo is the symbol of the island. Once at the top it is possible to park and take the very easy trekking path of half an hour to get to the Roque, from where it is possible to admire the view of the Island, ocean and Tenerife´s Volcan. On the way up I recommend a stop in Teror, one of the most characteristic villages on the island. On the way back (or even on the way up) Tejeda is a must stop, with his tiny white houses, the bakery / pastry shop with typical products and the suggestive sunsets .

AGAETE & PUERTO DE LAS NIEVES In just half an hour by car (or bus) along the northwest coast you arrive to Agaete, a very suggestive village whose small harbour ( Puerto de las Nieves) is the ideal place for a fish based lunch in one of the typical restaurants. Not far from the port 10 minutes by foot, you can have a bath in the famous natural water pools. The landscape is very suggestive and different from the southern locations (chose a sunny day as the water may be a bit cold). - If you go by car and you like wild beaches you can drive 10 minutes more from Agaete, direction south along the coast, and enjoy a couple of hours in Guayedra Beach (please take water and food with you). - On the way back from Agaete you can make a short stop in the city of ARUCAS, famous for its Cathedral.

MASPALOMAS from MELONERAS By car I advice you to park at Meloneras beach and then walk along the famous Promenade to the Maspalomas lighthouse. After the Lighthouse and Oasis the Dunes Beach begins. You can walk through them or along the water's edge until Playa Ingles or stop earlier and enjoy the beach and the ocean as the walk is quite long. (If you go by Bus go out at Maspalomas main bus station which is really near to the Promenade) On the way back (from any excursion to the South) deviate about 15 minutes into the inland, towards Fataga, up to the ASTRONOMIC MIRADOR DEGOLLADA DE LAS YEGUAS: lunar landscapes, lava canyons and 360 degree views. - For those who have time a visit up to the village of Tunte is worth the ride.

AMADORES Beach Right after the town of Puerto Rico the scenario of Amadores beach will surprise you with his colours. Easy reachable also by foot from Puerto Rico harbour, by a 15-20 minutes walk along the spectacular walking path. Ideal for kids as it is a protected bay and they have water games. A fancy beach club with pool is just near to the beach. You can spend the whole day in Amadores and/or go for sunset and dinner to Puerto Mogan, the so called small Venice of Gran Canaria.
