Bike ride to and along the LA River Preserve
Rent a bike(city of bike shop) and ride through downtown to Home Depot at 2055 Figueroa. You can take Broadway through Chinatown for most of that ride. Then across the street from the Home Depot parking lot, you will find the begging of the bike path that goes up and to the right and then places you on the west side of the river where the bike trail and preserve start. If you take it to Los Feliz BLVD it's a 14 mile round trip ride to/from DTLA. if you want to go further you can stay on the trail, or go up Los Feliz Blvd to Griffith Park and the Observatory.
