Hipster shopping street in Berkeley with nicer high end boutiques as well as Lululemon, MAC, Madewell, Paper Source, Anthropologie and Sur La Table to name a few. Great place to grab a coffee at Peets and people watch or have a wonderful lunch or dinner at Iyasare or the mexican restaurant next to peets.

Eclectic, upbeat, up and coming neighborhood with a variety of independently owned shops and cafes. Fun people watching. A definite must is a fried chicken sandwich or salad from bakesale Betty's on the corner of Telegraph and 51st street.

Trendy shopping street with independently owned boutiques, shops and cafes. Piedmont Movie theatre is a great place to take in a Indie movie and you can have dinner before or after at xyclo, dopo, shimizu, le coco or any of the many other casual dining spots within walking distance. Fenton's creamery is a famous Oakland ice cream spot, but beware of crowds on weekend nights. Coffee shops are plentiful and include Peets, gaylords, blue bottle, Ride, caffe chiave, and Timeless which is also vegan.

Walkable street filled with Upscale and eclectic mix of cafes, shops, boutiques, bistros and restaurants stretching all the way from Broadway at one end to UC Berkeley at the other end. However, probably the areas that are the most popular stretch from approximately Manilla Avenue next to the Rockridge library up to Alcatraz Avenue near Peets and Cole coffee as well as near Wood tavern & Southies and the fabulous upscale Cask Liquors with in store tastings. Along this stretch, right across from the Rockridge Bart station (subway), you'll find Market Hall seen here in the picture which is similar to a European food hall. It hosts a high end delicatessen, bakery, cheese and wine shop, fishmonger, butcher, fresh fruit and vegetable market and coffee shop all specializing in upscale and hard to find items. Most of the vendors especially at the cheese and wine shop are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly with helping you choose your selection. You'll also find cactus taqueria across from market hall which is a neighborhood gem. Moving about another 1/2 mile up College avenue towards UC Berkeley you'll hit another popular stretch of College avenue known as the ELMWOOD district with it's own movie theatre as well as many small shops, cafes, restaurants, boutiques. Enjoy!
