The building's design was acclaimed worldwide. Nicolai Ouroussoff, architecture critic from the New York Times, classified it as the "most attractive project the architect Rem Koolhaas has ever built" and indicated that it's "a building whose intellectual ardor is matched by its sensual beauty". He also compared it to the "exuberant design" in Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.

You cannot visit Porto without going to the Bolhão Market. This lovely market place is where farmers came to sell their fruit and vegetables. Nowadays you also find butchers and the inevitable souvenir shops.
Have lunch in one of the cafes on the ground floor : six euros for a total immersion experience of the real Porto, it’s worth it.

The merchandise is diverse and includes leather bags, chewy candies, chocolates, pottery, blankets made of wool from locally raised sheep and plenty more. There are a small number of pieces for each item, and the stock is replenished frequently. From 10 cents.
