Gostilna Batist is just down the road from our cottage on the right when you walk out the door. It is just a very small walk. Great for lunch, dinner or after dinner drinks. Let them know where you are staying. They know us and are very kind. For the hungry, there is a Meat Plate with every kind of meat possible (plus fries and salad). They have berry and other flavored spirits they make themselves. Try and enjoy, although a few may grow hair on your chest! Also, the grilled cheese is actually a grilled piece of cheese not what you might expect. We discovered a delicious salad with beef and one of the best beet soups around. They hav two versions of a “hamburger” good for kids.
This restaurant is run by Tomazh and Viznya. They can see cold at first, but when you get chatting, they are very warm and lovely and will take great care of you – especially if you say you are from my place.
Gostilna Rot is closed for meals due to a fire.

The best grilled squid in the west of Slovenia. Amazing “spicy” (it is not spicy – at all!) pumpkin oil to dip bread is worth the trip alone. We have been searching for a store that sells this for years. A wonderful tenant shared that they found some at the souvenir shop inside Predjama Castle. It is worth the space in your baggage. The gorgonzola and mushroom dish is amazing.
