Its an old coastal defence site, with tunnels, guns and fortifications to walk around and offers very good views of Auckland harbour and CBD.

Catch a ferry over to Rangitoto Island and climb (walk) to the top. Offers very very good views of auckland and surrounding areas. Probably the highest lookout in the area.

Arts & Culture
The Auckland War Memorial Museum, (yep, its a mouthful) offers exhibits on all the wars New Zealand has been a part of. The Museum has a very good collection of Maori artefacts and also has a WW2 Spitfire and Zero Planes, worth taking a look. But don't rush straight in, read the inscriptions on the outside of the building noting every battle New Zealand took part in, quite surprising.
