One of Vesterbro’s best cocktail bars is called Lidkoeb. The place can at times be very crowded and somewhat noisier than many other places, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Lidkoeb is located in a courtyard on Vesterbrogade 72b, right before the street splits into two streets, Vesterbrogade and Frederiksberg Allé. The three-storied bar is full of surprises for those who haven’t been there before. On the first and second floor, you’ll find Lidkoeb’s extensive cocktail menu, draft beer, and bottled beer. But you’ll find the biggest surprise on the third floor. Sloped walls, dim lighting and fancy furniture characterize the third floor, where you can enjoy a glass of whiskey – and whiskey on

This is the local, smoky, greasy, old-school place to drink a beer without paying a lot. Looks dodgy, because it is. But totally safe. You will have fun and get a headache from the smoke alone and because you will have at least one beer too many. Enjoy.

If you want interesting tap beers from one of the best brewery in the world, you go here. This is a very small bar, with the crunch relieved by picnic tables outside. 16 beers on tap and about half of those is Mikkeller. A good number of them is American, and if you don't know what you're ordering, you might end up talking with the sweet bartender. The small size glasses available (common to many places in Copenhagen) makes a glass of beer somewhat reasonably priced at 35 kroner (about $6).

Probably the best cocktail bar in Copenhagen, despite the growing competition. The interior is absolutely wonderful! The bartenders know their stuff and you can easily challenge them on something outside the menu card. Our favorite Old Fashioned with Elephant Gin was fantastic!

Brass Monkey is a super cool tiki bar where most of the drinks are served in a large bowl or coconut with fire in it. There is always a lot of people and you cannot see in from the outside and thus it looks like some shady club but it really isn't.

An old church that has been refurnished to be a “people’s house” - a place where people meet for events, massive movie nights, ping pong and shared eating called “Fællesspisning”, where you sit with other people (that you don’t know) and eat a great meal for only 50 DKr. It’s important to be there in good time to get a table (35-40 mins before). Go check www.absaloncph.dk - look for “Fællesspisning” events. It’s really great and different. Café Dyrehaven is located on Vesterbro and is one of the area's popular sidewalk cafés. Inside, the old pub atmosphere is maintained with a mix of the modern and youthful. The seating area outside is a hotspot in sunshine. The walls at Café Dyrehaven are painted in bright colours, but to preserve the old pub atmosphere, the old wooden bar and the deer heads on the walls have remained untouched at the café. Freetown Christiania is a green and car-free neighbourhood in Copenhagen, best known for its autonomous inhabitants’ different way of life. It was established in 1971 by a group of hippies who occupied some abandoned military barracks on the site and developed their own set of society rules, completely independent of the Danish government. Christiania is a mix of homemade houses, workshops, art galleries, music venues, cheap and organic eateries, and beautiful nature. It is still a society within a society, for an example you cannot buy a house in Christiania. You have to apply for it, and if successful, it is given to you. The Cisterns, a long forgotten subterranean reservoir, once contained the supply of drinking water for the Danish capital and could hold as much as 16 million liters of clean water. Today, The Cisterns is an integral part of Frederiksberg Museums, acting as a venue for art exhibitions and other events where the singularity of its architecture and atmosphere remains a core attraction. Located under Frederiksberg Hill in the heart of Søndermarken Park, The Cisterns is the only dripstone cave in Denmark. The natural formation of stalactites and stalagmites are not uncommon for concrete structures, yet none anywhere can offer the sheer magnitude and diversity of those found here.

Go here to enjoy the beach and the ocean. The artificial island is separated from the original beach by a lagoon which is crossed by three bridges. The beach has two sections. The northern section has a natural beach environment with winding paths, broad sandy beaches and low dunes. The southern section offers a so-called city beach with a broad promenade and areas for ball play or picnicking. There is also a small marina and parking facilities at the southern end. The lagoon has low-water areas for children as well as a 1,000 m swimming course.

Dyrehaven is an enormous park located outside of Copenhagen (about 20 min from Svanemøllen st.), walking around the ancient oak tree and being surrounded by wild dears is truly special. If you go there make sure to take a small walk down to Taarbæck strandvej (which is closest reached by foot from Klampenborg station), which is a small stretch of picturesque tiny houses located out to the water. Dyrehaven is enormous and you won‘t be able to see all of it in one day. Stay away from the restaurants located within the park and bring your own picnic. We recommend this place is you want a romantic day trip and bringing a bike is a good idea.
