Great Mexican restaurant. You can eat in or order at their take out window. Currently BYOB until they get their liquor license.

This is an amazing restaurant that is owned and operated by a celebrity Chef Lee Ann Wong. They serve food every day from 7 AM until 2 PM. The food is a mixture of local/Asian fusion mix. They do serve alcoholic beverages as well. Possibly call ahead to see if you can get reserved seating.

Great take out food (plate lunch style). My favorite place for food on the island. They serve fish taco plates with an awesome home made Aioli sauce as well as grilled chicken, and Kalbi. Right near Kapiolani park and Waikiki.

You can’t leave Hawaii without having Malasadas from Leonard’s bakery. They are Portuguese donuts, so are soft on inside but fried with a crispy outer layer and rolled in sugar. They are so much better than donuts and come out hot. They are so popular that the store stays open until very late at night. People love them so much though that there can be a line, so either go early in the morning or call ahead with your order. No seating- just to-go food.

Duke’s is a restaurant right on the ocean in the heart of Waikiki. It is beautiful to sit and have a drink, or to go to on Sundays when they have live music and dancing right along the beach. It is an icon here in Hawaii, opened in the 1970’s by Duke Kahanamoku- the famous Hawaiian surfer that taught the world the magic of surfing. The food is not fabulous, but the drinks are good and so is the Hula Pie dessert. This place is fun because of the history, the vibe, and the view. They serve food from breakfast to dinner.

Sightseeing
The symbol of Hawaii, this crater stands at the end of Waikiki strip. You do switchbacks and steps to the top, passing through a small tunnel at one point for a beautiful view of Oahu. Their are old WWII bunkers up there as it was used as a lookout point during the war. I have also heard that they store Hawaii food reserves inside the tunnels and inter shell of the crater for the people of Hawaii in case of a natural disaster (hurricane of course), but I don’t know if this is completely accurate. It’s a must see and a moderate hike. My kids have been able to hike it several times and they are under 10. The entrance to the hike is on the back side of diamond head (mountain side).

This is another large crater on Oahu about 15 - 20 minutes from the rental heading east. Look for directions to find the parking lot. This is an old track up the side of Koko Head crater (also for WWII - There are several bunkers at the top) that has been revamped into a challenging hike that goes straight up. It will give you a workout. It is good to go early in the morning or late in afternoon. Bring water! It can take an average of 45 at a good pace round trip.
