“Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's career home run record -- which had stood for nearly 40 years -- on April 8, 1974, at Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium, when he hit his 715th home run. The stadium was torn down in 1995, but the section of outfield fence that the ball flew over was left standing. It currently stands in the middle of a parking lot that will soon be a construction site.”

A special library of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System (A-FPLS), it is the first public library in the Southeast to offer specialized reference and archival collections dedicated to the study and research of African American culture and history and of other peoples of African descent. The building, designed in the brutalist architectural style, is considered a "masterpiece" by architectural experts, such as Barry Bergdoll, the Chief Architectural Curator of the Museum of Modern Art, and is closely related to the Whitney Museum of Art building The building was built for a capacity of 1,000 users and 1 million volumes.”
