This circa 1911 two bedroom one bath bungalow in downtown Albuquerque is walking distance to the Old Town Plaza and shops, museums, craft breweries, Sawmill Market, and the ABQ Grower's Market at Robinson Park. The Railyards Market, Rio Grande Nature Center and The Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm are a short drive away. Located just off Mountain Road, a designated bicycle boulevard, it is a 10 minute bike ride to the Rio Grande Bosque Trail.

A hely
I fell in love with this cheerful and sunny bungalow and you will too! The house is filled with art, southwest pattern and color, and is quiet and dark at night despite it's close to downtown location. It has front and back porches, a large deck, a fire pit and BBQ, and a 8 foot projection screen in the living room for streaming movie from your laptop.

Albuquerque, Új-Mexikó, Egyesült Államok

Away from highways and strip shopping centers, the house is located on the edge of downtown in the Wells Park Neighborhood, one house off of Mountain Road, a low speed limit and winding two lane historic road and a designated city bicycle boulevard, adjacent to the historic neighborhoods full of turn of the century bungalows built during Albuquerque's railroad era.

Wells Park is a transitional and rapidly changing downtown neighborhood with three houses across the street having undergone renovations just this year. The historic Harwood School, a former girl's school turned into an art center and Montessori School is in view on Mountain Road at the end of the street. The Harwood School Art Center has gallery openings throughout the year.

The location proves that-contrary to the opinion of outsiders-The Burque has a walkable and historic downtown. The house is walkable to the West Central Avenue Historic District, the Roadrunner train to Santa Fe, Robinson Park farmer's market.

The Historic Kimo, Sunshine and El Rey Theatres, The Tuerta sandwich shop, The Acre vegetarian cafe, Slate Street Cafe and ONI noodles are downtown favorites.

Old Town faves are Blackbird Coffee, The Church Street Cafe, Antiquity Restaurant, The Tiny Grocer, Old Town Pizza and the Rattlesnake Museum.

The Albuquerque Art Museum, New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Explora!, a science museum for kids and adults, are all walkable as is the Level 5 Bar and restaurant at the Hotel Chaco and the new and fabulous Sawmill Market, a food hall with indoor and outdoor dining.

The Nob Hill and UNM district is a very short drive away. I highly recommend walking the UNM campus. The center of the campus is the duckpond which is an oasis in the desert and the nearby Zimmerman library historic reading room is not to be missed as well as the UNM art museum at Popejoy Hall, where the NM Philharmonic plays.

The North Valley, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque and Los Poblanos Historic Inn and Organic Farm is bikeable in about 30 - 45 minutes from the Rio Grande River Bosque Trail, and drivable in about 10 minutes.

Old Town Farm and Bike-in Coffee is accessible from the bike trail and is open Thursday through Sunday in season and serves crepes, burritos, smoothies and has live music and fresh produce to-go.

Every neighborhood should have a coffee shop and we do - Slow Burn - which is about a one block walk. The Golden Crown Panaderia (a bakery and pizzeria and neighborhood institution) Rumor Pizza, The Ricochet Gallery, New Mexico Tea Company, and Monroe's and Cocina Azul New Mexican restaurants are all just a couple of blocks away.

Make sure to visit the Julianna Kirwin Gallery to see her wood block print studio on Saturday mornings.

I am an architect / interior designer who moved to New Mexico from San Francisco 4 years ago (where I was a Superhost with an Airbnb Plus property) back to New Mexico and the Land of Enchantment. I lived in New Mexico from 1990 to 1996 where I worked for a company replacing windmills with solar pumps on the Navajo Nation, was a pastry chef in Santa Fe, and a community organizer for the New Mexico Mainstreet Program. I recently completed the all new renovation of CASA OJO and have plans to renovate another 150 year old adobe on the property, an artist's studio, and a partially subterranean Zendo / tea house. I also have two other Airbnbs - The Burque Bungalow in downtown ABQ and Casa Hermosa in Nob Hill.
