Házirend
Ez a hely nem megfelelő 12 év alatti gyerekeknek, és a házigazda nem engedélyezi a háziállatokat és a bulikat.
Casa Mondrian is the perfect retreat for who wants to isolate away from the risks of COVID infections or just from their busy life. Being a holiday house, during this lockdown months it has been unoccupied by its owners.

It was built in 1973 after modernist influences, the interiors were recently completed at very high standards. It enjoys an elevated position of about 500 m. on top of a hill, looking down to valleys and across lower hills It is a heaven for those who want peace and luxury.

A hely
Colourful, playful and spacious rooms. Numerous large windows allow spectacular views from any position. The peaceful location is enhanced by absence of public lights in the immediate vicinity, allowing a real immersion in nature and its sounds, with moon and stars to admire and guide.
You will soon realise how everything in the house is new, functional and in perfect conditions. This is because the interiors were only built in 2015-17 and with one vision/style. The bold colours of Mondrian, of modernist art used inside reflect the geometric lines of the front and primary colours of the window frames. A truly unique place that really treats you.

ABOUT SLEEPING SPACES
3 spacious bedrooms. 2 double (1 with superking and 1 with king sized beds) and 1 triple, perfect for children, with 2 single beds and 1 mezzanine queen size bed. Two of the four toilets are on the bedrooms’ floor. The master bathroom is shared by the 2 double bedrooms with a bathtub big enough to fit 2 adults and 1 child. The fun, red and grey shower room is adiacent to the children bedroom. Being recently refurbished, all the bathrooms are newly tiled and taps and showers are modern and efficient. Bidets are fitted in 3 bathrooms.

ABOUT THE KITCHEN
Possibly the biggest modern family kitchen you have ever been in. About 30 m2. Bespoke to our design, it is a restful place is pastel blue and liliac colours while being highly efficient. Two big windows overlooking the olive groves below the house and hills opposite let fresh air and cool breeze in while relaxing the mind. A large induction hob is dominated by a very large black fluted extractor. This is very striking and powerful, as the kitchen has no doors and it is separated from the dining area only by a double fronted fireplace. The extractor helps preventing fumes and odours from spreading across the ground floor. A double sink of extralarge dimensions, large Smeg fridge, a large oven and dishwasher make it very easy to cook for and serve eight or more people. I have included a classic BRITA water softner because the water is very hard there, so please take a classic, small water filter (BOOTS own ones are also fitting). Cuttlery and crockery are abundant. There is a barbeque to be used outside. No microwave and no kettle as the induction hob can boil water in less than one minute
The fridge middle drawer (the fridge has 3 compartments: fridge on top, fridge/freezer in the middle and freezer at the bottom) can be regulated in temperature from -2C° to 10C°, it is perfect to store white or red wine in (local wine is a must) if not used as a freezer. I use it for storing fresh bred too.
The round table in the kitchen can be carefully moved to the portico or terrace outside the dining area if there is no table there.

ABOUT LIVING SPACES
The ground floor is very spacious. Two different doors can be used to enter the house on this level. Divided into 4 areas (TV area, sitting area, dining are and kitchen), it is an open space of about 100 square metres. It also includes a protected outdoor space next to the dining room, that opens wit a triple glass sliding door as wide as the wall. Dining there is a blissed experience, from breakfast to dinner, it offers protection from direct sun and rain while providing a very secluded view of the green valley and of Colle del Marchese village. Lighting has been carefully studied to give both bright or soft solutions. There is a toilette in this floor.
The second floor is all devoted to a study room and a spectacular terrace from where the views are breathtaking. We use it to relax in the evening while conversing, watching falling stars (in August) and drinking local wine. Music and a book can be the perfect alternative to socialising in this quiet heaven.
The biggest terrace is on the first floor. Next to the bedrooms. This is a sunny spot perfect for sun bathing. In August it can be too hot to lounge there, but we have slept on it using inflatable mattresses during hot days. The night skies are often as clear as void space.

Mit használhatnak a vendégek?
Guests can use all the spaces in the house undisturbed by other guests as it is let to one group of guests at the time. More than 400 square metres are available indoors. The outdoor area is also completely for the guests to enjoy.

ABOUTH THE AREA

WINES
Montefalco in on top of a hill opposite the house front. The area is now famous for its ancient red Sagrantino grapes. This would be the higest quality wine produced locally (DOCG). Originally, Sagrantino grapes were used to produce a sweet wine eccellent for accompaining desserts (Montefalco Sagrantino Passito - DOCG). Lately the grape has been used to also produce Sagrantino dry wine to accompany main dishes (Sagrantino di Montefalco – DOCG). You can purchase both from many wineries in the area which you can enjoy visit and where tastings are always offered. In many cases, if the winery is contacted in advance, food is offered with wine tasting. A few of them just at walking distance. Montefalco Rosso - DOC is a red wine made partially with Sagrantino grapes and also very well rated nationally. Another red Umbrian DOCG wine is Torgiano Rosso Riserva, Torgiano is about 50km North if you want to visit that area. Very local DOC White wines include Grechetto, Trebbiano and Colli Martani Vernaccia (this is a sweet wine). Orvieto Classico -DOC is produced around Orvieto, a beautiful town about 50 Km south, rich in art and history.

OLIVE OIL
Naturally, olive oil is the other precious ancient local product. You will be inside olive groves and surrounded them. In Colle del Marchese there is a cooperative of very local producers that can sell you an exeptional extra virgine olive oil, pressed with local cold presses and only consumed by locals. Products like this cannot be found in supermarkets locally or in the best delis anywhere. The olives used are only of one quality, and do not travel for more than 10 Km to reach the press. Not only, therefore, is the oil made with very fresh and ripe olives, but it is also virtually organic (even though not formally labelled) as local producers make it for themselves and do not use pesticides or chemicals in the oil to modify colour or taste.

ACTIVITIES and SIGHT SEEING
Apart from culinary bliss including restaurants and aperitifs bars, the area can offer activities such as fishing (go to Lago del Sero), mountain biking, horse riding, and, of course, hiking. Swimming in Castel Ritaldi public swimming pool is only 5 Km away and much less crowded in the afternoon after 3pm (when it is also cheaper).
No need to mention the rich artistic heritage that Umbria in known for. Important religious centres like Assisi are visited by international scholars and devoted Catholics. Here, as in Spoleto you find San Francis’ secluded refuges. Not just churches and cathedrals devoted to him, but woods where he hid in solitary devotion are open to be visited. From ancient Etruria to the high Middle Ages, this area was one of the richest in Italy and if museums offer an informed option to discover our treasures, any village and town in the area is built inside ancient walls, castles and ruins. You have only to stroll around to witness and feel the presence of extremely skilled and inspired artists, architects and builders of the past 800 years.
Beautiful nearby spots are:
Trevi, which is high up built on a nearly perfect shaped hill. There is a great playground there under refreshing old trees and with great views on the Umbrian Valley. It is a very good place also for strolling in medieval little squares and cobbled narrow streets. Any restaurant will be of your full satisfaction (avoid only the main parking square bar, near the playground. This is ok for purchasing coffee, a drink or and ice cream, but food there is not the real thing). Bevagna is famous for the smallest theatre in Europe. And I must believe prittiest? It is a must! Please check opening times. This town is another ancient medieval and Roman spot, built on a river and highly reccommended as also not very touristy. Mercato delle Gaite market is a recreated medieval market event taking place in June not to miss.
La corsa dei ceri in Gubbio on May 15th is a very spectacular and crazy medieval competition. Much like the Palio in Siena, but this one is based on a very long and heavy candles transported by 10 men who compete with two other teams running up and down Orvieto alleys . Please book if you want to enjoy it from a good seat, otherwise you can turn up, but it is terribly crowded and, frankly, mad! Not dangerous for children and there was never violence reported.
Montefalco, Spoleto, Spello, Assisi, Todi, Perugia, Gubbio, Orvieto and Norcia are just examples of sight seeing spots in Umbria that won’t disappoint. There is more and if you are there in the summer, look out for ‘SAGRE’. These are local culinary festivals organised by local people and not a form of promotion by big businesses. They are to promote the villages own economy to locals.
Last but not least, the artistic festivals Umbria is known for, now internationally, are Spoleto Festival in June-July, Umbria Jazz in different periods and locations and Infiorata, generally in May in Spello with incredible flowers petals displays all around the town’s roads and squares. Unforgettable!
