Sweet deal (Private Room #2) is a cute room that overlooks mapletrees and the street. It offers a single bed, dresser, & workspace.
Share a beautifully furnished living room, completely remodeled kitchen, a laundry, & bath. Merriam Park is a historic area close to St Paul colleges, near the Green Line Metro & major bus routes. The area is safe & offers coffee shops, restaurants, wine shops, Whole Foods, Target, vintage shops, & is very walkable. Smart lock for easy check-in.

A hely
Room #2 is a cozy room with a twin bed. Merriam Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the twin cities and is situated exactly between both downtowns. It is 5 blocks south of the new metro (green line light rail at Fairview and University). Built in the 1880s most of the homes are Victorian-style with big yards, sidewalks, and some bike paths. The neighborhood has numerous restaurants, shops, parks, and a free rec center.

Your accommodations and amenities

This is a 1880s home in St. Paul is near most colleges and universities (Macalester, St. Thomas, St. Cates, Concordia, Hamline and UMN-St. Paul campus).

Sorry, no pets.

Kitchen/Bath/Extras

Your kitchen is fully equipped and has cooking utensils, teapot, coffee maker, and a view of the garden. The shared bath is original 1920s deco and is super clean. We use only "green" cleaning products!

Washer/dryer available. Street parking is available. House is shared with our friendly, outgoing family (2 adults and a teenager). We live in the first-floor apartment.

Recommendation
My family stayed at Deborah's place this past fall. Deborah's place was our first stop in our family's cross-country move to the Twin Cities. We enjoyed the homey, family atmosphere, and Deborah and her family were very welcoming and friendly. The neighborhood is wonderful, with many amenities in walking distance. An added bonus: Deborah's extensive knowledge of the local community and activities around town helped us quickly get involved in our new community. - Maureen

Merriam Park

We love hosting students, their families, artists and medical residents who want to experience our unique neighborhood. There are few hotels in the area so our guests are happy to find us. We are located 1 mile from the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River and numerous hiking trails, close to I-94, near parks, biking and running paths, Nice Ride bicycle rentals, Whole Foods grocery store, theater, coffee shops, Augustine's, Tilly's Farmhouse and local Ice Cream! The neighborhood is well known for its vintage shops and antique stores.

Transportation
WE'RE ON THE GREENLINE!
We are on major bus lines for both cities. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are available 24/7. It's easy to rent bikes at any of the nearby NiceRide stations - Simply take a bike when you need one, and return it to any station in the system when you arrive at your destination. It's fast, easy, and affordable. The airport is a ten min drive about a $20 taxi ride. There are several car share programs in St. Paul including HourCar, Relay, and Car2Go.

What to do

Saint Paul is home to beautiful Como Park and Conservatory and one of the only free city zoos in the country. The Children's Museum, Minnesota Science Museum, Excel Center, History Museum, and the state Capitol are some things St. Paul - "America's Most Livable City" - has to offer. In the summer St. Paul's artist's quarters, "Lower Town" is home to several free music festivals - Jazz, Guitar, and Concrete and Steel - which take place at Mears Park. Also, free concerts featuring local music in Mears every Thursday in the summer. Mears Park is surrounded by pubs and food trucks. The St. Paul Farmers' Market takes place 2 blocks away every weekend. CHS stadium is home to the Saint Paul Saints and is the "greenest" stadium in the country - go solar! Check out the city website for numerous festivals. The summer of 2019 will see the opening of our new soccer stadium

Minneapolis is the premier arts destination in the Midwest and home to the Guthrie Theater, the Walker Art Gallery, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Cedar Cultural Center, over 300 live music venues, great dining, and major sports teams (Vikings and Twins). It's also been named the most bike-friendly city in the US. Each city has its unique charm, adventures & secrets for you to find!

We love all things local and promote nearby independent businesses like restaurants that feature local food, local music, and art as well as the history and heritage of Minnesota and invite you to learn about our northern culture and diverse cities. We can help you find fun things to do in the area.

I'm a sustainable tourism consultant and have traveled, worked and lived in over 30 countries. My favorite places are NYC, Washington state, Washington DC, Vermont, India, Mexico and the North Shore/Great woods of northern M nnesota.

I also own a small organic Indian spice company and sell our mixes online and at local farmers' markets.

I'm a foodie, enjoy film and great music. Some of our best family holidays are to places like the Winnipeg Folk Festival where we were in front of the stage dancing like crazy with Michael Franti. I enjoy almost any type of travel - by camel, elephant, horse, boat, train, plane, car or feet - and I've done all of those. Travel can help us not just explore the world, but gain a better appreciation for all types of people, cultures and places. It helps us see where we are from with new eyes.

In the summer you'll find me in the garden - I love pesto and make it fresh all summer. We also grow our own grapes and make our own maple syrup from the trees in our yard. My husband and I are a bit bohemian in our travels and tastes. We love all kinds of music and I volunteer often at the Cedar Cultural Center @TheCedar which has some of the best live music in north America.

We spend most of our time on the first floor and will not bother you. We are low maintenance guests when we travel and welcome people who are the same. However, if you need anything please let us know! Whether its a suggestion for a nearby coffee house or a fantastic restaurant, the music scene, the arts scene, outdoor activities, museums, shopping, local food and locally made brewskies, how to get around - we got you covered! We love hosting artists and musicians!

We love learning about our guests and have had some AMAZING experiences - one of our favorites was a Japanese guest who taught us how to make sushi and wrapped all of our Christmas gifts (that we were giving) for us in origami style. She was here during the tsunami and nuclear crisis in Japan so we became family! We've had numerous guests come back numerous times - I think that says a lot about the people who enjoy the down home airbnb style as well as our lovely, welcoming neighborhood.

We're not on the highway and you won't find a McDonalds nearby. Our home is was built in 1883 and is is over 135 years old so if you expect modern then this is not a place you will be comfortable staying at.

We stay in the first-floor apartment when we are in town. We love meeting our guests and have many that return over and over. You will have a personal code to enter the house (and will need to download the app before arrival). Please do not share it with anyone. Each guest has their own code. There is a local property manager nearby and available.
