The cottage is set on a well landscaped half acre with only one additional dwelling on the property and affords you total privacy.

Guests have full use of the cottage and its facilities, and a private back yard,

There is a small neighborhood beach about 300 yards from the house.

Enjoy a backyard barbeque. Or, if you are visiting in the cooler months, curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book or with that special someone in your life!

The cottage is fully equipped for you to prepare home cooked meals. However, If you prefer to dine out there are charming restaurants and pubs in the area - only minutes away from the house.

TRAVEL TIP: The cottage has such a homey atmosphere that often people (especially first time vacation renters) are templed to stock up supplies for the entire trip. They usually are overwhelmed at the amount of food and supplies they have to dispose of or leave behind at the end of their stay. It is advisable to purchase only small amounts of groceries (for a day or two at the most) and to top up supplies as needed. The grocery stores are close to the house and by doing this you won't end up with lots of excess groceries at the end of your trip.

The property is well lit for your comfort and convenience when out and about at night.

IMPORTANT COVID TRAVEL UPDATE: PLEASE REVIEW PRIOR TO TRAVEL
As of July 1, 2020 Bermuda is now welcoming visitors back to safely and responsibly enjoy the island's natural beauty and genuine hospitality. To protect Bermuda's community and travellers alike, the Government of Bermuda has introduced a set of robust screening protocols that must be observed. Bermuda offers guests an accessible, safe destination with wide open spaces and pink sand beaches, clean ocean breezes and brilliant turquoise waters, plus meaningful cultural connections and fresh island fare.

Ideally within 72 hours, but no more than five days before departure, visitors must take a PCR COVID-19 test and obtain a negative result. This applies to adults and children aged 10 and up. Children who are 9-years-old and younger are exempt and are subject to their adult travel companion's quarantine. Test results must be entered as part of the online travel authorisation process and be presented upon arrival in Bermuda.

Important notice. Once you have been tested for Covid19 upon arrival at the airport you must go directly to your vacation rental without stopping (no stops to grocery stores or scooter rentals) and wait there until you get their Covid-19 results from Government. You can order your groceries online and have them delivered to your rental.

The cottage is located along a major bus route and is about 400 yards from the bus stop. The fare per person is $5.00 USD or BD. Exact fare is required as drivers do not carry change on them.

Bermuda Public Holidays:

Good FridayFriday - Friday before Easter Sunday
Bermuda Day-May 24
National Heroes Day- Third Monday in June
Emancipation Day (Cup Match) either last Thursday in July or the first Thursday in August
Somer's Day (Cup Match) either the last Friday in July or the first Friday in August
Labour Day- First Monday in September
Remembrance Day - November 11
Christmas Day - December 25
Boxing Day - December 26

Bermudian idiosyncrasies:
Bermudians are very friendly and helpfull. We greet each other and total strangers in stores, restaurants, in passing on the street, entering the bus or ferry etc. with “Good morning”, “Good afternoon” or “Good evening” - irrespective of our moods. These phrases are generally the precursor to any conversation a person initiates with another individual. Starting a conversation with someone without the formality of a greeting or salutation first is considered to be bad manners by many Bermudians and while they usually would be too polite to openly rebuff you, you possibly might not get the level of warmth, or enthusiastic response for which we are known.

TRAVEL TIP: When out and about, be sure to use these greetings when encountering people - especially if you need information or assistance. Nine times out of ten you will be rewarded with the most “Bermudaful” smiles and people will go out of their way to help you. A friendly smile and "thank you" during these encounters is virtually guaranteed to make them friends for life!

Sandys Parish, Bermuda

The neighborhood is quiet and a nature lovers delight! There are several parks, beaches, country roads and walking trails within close proximity to explore. When not enjoying nature, all other creature comforts are only minutes away - beauty salons, a spa, grocery stores, banks, post office, area restaurants, etc.
Long Bay Beach and Nature Reserve is a "must see". The Royal Naval Dockyard which offers many attractions - including tours, museums, restaurants and shopping is another favorite with visitors. Other Area attractions include:
•Steps away (less than 300 yards) from Scotts Bay, a secluded neighborhood beach
•Walking distance to supermarkets, beauty salons Laundromat and local pharmacies - all within less than a one mile parameter from the cottage.
•Walking distance(approximately 1 mile) to Somerset Village with local pubs, bars and restaurants and beautiful Mangrove Bay. Try to get to Country Squire if you can. Loads of fun and a great pub atmosphere.
• Abut 2.5 miles away from the Woodies Sports bar on Watford Island- on your way to Dockyard. It is a local haunt and home to the best fish sandwich in the world - in my not so humble opinion!
•About three miles away from the Royal Naval Dockyard, the Bermuda Maritime Museum, Bermuda Dolphin Quest, the Clock tower Mall, movie theatre, excellent restaurants, boat tours, land tours, water sports, craft markets, other shopping and attractions and the 2017 Americas Cup activities. I particularly like to dine at Anchor Restaurant and the Frog and Onion pub but all the restaurants are very good! Commissioner’s House, Dolphin Quest and the Maritime Museum are "must sees". While there why not take a swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Quest?
•Steps away ( about 400 yards) from the public bus to Dockyard, Hamilton and St. Georges
•Walking distance (approximately ½ mile) to the Cavello Bay public ferry
•Three miles from the Rockaway Ferry
•Two and a half miles from the Dockyard ferry
•Walking distance ( about ½ mile) to Heydon Gardens,
•Walking distance (about ¾ mile) to Fort Scaur
•Minutes ( about two miles) from Somerset Bridge – the smallest draw bridge in the world and water sports
•Walking distance ( 1/3 mile) to the Old Bermuda Rail Way Nature Trail
•Steps away from the scenic West Side Road with magnificent water views
•Walking distance ( ¾ mile) to scenic Long Bay Nature Reserve and Long Bay Beach
•Walking distance ( ½ mile) to the Westover Farm where you can purchase fresh meat for the grill and other produce in season
•Walking distance ( ½ mile) to Daniel's Head Beach and Water Park where you can enjoy various water sports.
•Approximately 3 miles away from the world renowned Port Royal golf course - an 18 hole public PGA course. The Bella Vista restaurant is located at the Port Royal Golf Course. The food is good and it is a great way to end your golfing excursion!

Welcome to my cottage! I love to travel! I enjoy meeting people and learning about the history and the culture of the places that I visit. I love to visit not only the "touristy" area attractions but also those places only known to the locals and that are "off the beaten path". I am an independent "no frills" person who looks for affordable, clean, comfortable and secure accommodations that provide ease of access to places of interest and various attractions. This is the type of experience that I also offer my guests: value for money, clean, comfortable and secure lodgings with everything that you need in close proximity. I leave you to explore in peace, but I am always available to assist if needed. Please take a look at the description listing, photo gallery and guide book which I have prepared for this listing. They will give you an overview of cottage interior, ideas for the best times to visit the Island and a glimpse some of my favorite places of interest. I want you to leave Bermuda with warm memories of my Island and its people. And above all, I want Bermuda and my place to become your second home!
