The State Bedroom is situated in the North East Tower, looking across the Castle Park to the River Eden and the Pennines featuring two 16th century four poster beds. All the walls are hung with 16th century tapestries and the wardrobes and other furnishings are antique. It is a fine example of how the very wealthy decorated their rooms before the advent of wall paper and very few rooms like it exist in the country today. But modern comfort is also provided – there is an en suite bathroom!
