A hely
Purley on Thames is a characterful village along the Thames Path that grew out of shanty houses put up during World War II for refugees from London's East End, whose homes had been bombed. Over the years these shanty houses have been replaced with traditional houses, mine having been built in 1976. I literally put my toe across the threshold and knew that this house was for me. There's a lovely happy feeling to the house, with friendly neighbours. There are wonderful walks along the banks of the River Thames, just minutes away. Mapledurham Lock is a sort walk away, with a cafe, and views across the river to Mapledurham House and Mapledurham Mill being the oldest working mill in the country. This stretch of the Thames inspired Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham and Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. And possibly Swallows and Amazons.
Nearby towns include Reading, Tilehurst, Pangbourne and Henley on Thames. Oxford is about a 40 min journey, Windsor 30 mins and London an hour. There's a local bus (no. 16)just 3 mins from the house into Reading, where you can catch a Rail Air bus to the airport. Or indeed a train to London; one every 30 mins and take about 35mins to Paddington Station.
This area is renowned for wonderful riverside restaurants and pubs; The Swan at Pangbourne and The Beetle & Wedge at Moulsford are my favourites, and there several more to choose between.
Other local attractions include a Wolf Sanctuary and of course Windsor Castle, Windsor Races and Henley Regatta.
I have a small friendly poodle. But he doesn't like cats. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are fully insured, house trained, well-behaved and friendly to my dog. However, please ask me first!
As my house is not big I'm afraid this has to be limited to just one guest dog at a time. No pets and no ball games in the back garden.
I have a small front and back garden, which you are welcome to enjoy. There's plenty of countryside round and about too.

Mit használhatnak a vendégek?
Bedroom and bathroom, kitchen/diner and garden.

Egyéb fontos dolgok
Due to the close proximity to the river, it's not a good idea to stay here if you're at all asthmatic.

I have a small sociable brown poodle, called Hendrix on account of his afro.

I'm self-employed and work from home and London. Quite social, love the movies and art shows. Not that into cooking but I eat organic and am very nearly vegetarian. I write, and am putting the finishing touches to a novel so trying to stay in and get on with it! I am forever trying to learn to speak French to a level that will sound like I know what I'm talking about. I fear that this will be many years off. Light years that is. My life motto - Live the Bright Side You can (Hidden by Airbnb) me - livebrightside
