Spend a relaxing couple of hours sailing on the Nile on our newly outfitted and pristine felucca, the traditional sailing boat that has been used on these waters for thousands of years. Captain Mahmoud will pick you at the appointed place on the corniche and take you sailing to see different parts of the Nile. On the way we will see many sites along the river, depending on the wind and currents. These could include the nilometer (a structure for measuring the water in ancient Egypt), the Botanical garden, the Aga Khan monument, noble tombs, the St. Simeon monastery, and hieroglyphic carvings that can not be seen from any other place. Along the way, you can watch camels traveling on the sand dunes, see myriads of birds, pass by Nubian villages, and watch everyday life play out on the river. Enjoy the gentle movement of the wind and water and a chance to slow down and reflect on what life might have been thousands of years ago, back when traveling the river meant giving in to the whims of nature. If weather permits, you might stop on a beach to enjoy a light refreshment of mint tea and traditional sweets with a chance to maybe dip your feet on the Nile! This experience is great for groups. First you will be transported to the Necropolis of Thebes, the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor. Walk into the Valley of the Kings tombs. Explore the mysteries of ancient mythology, see King Tutankhamun. Also, visit other important royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. After visiting the tombs you will visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. On the way we will stop at Alabaster factory to see handicrafts and art of sculpting and carving by local craftsmen who use the same tools as their ancient ancestors. You will have a free drink (Hibiscus tea) so you can enjoy the flavors of Egypt. Afterwards, you will be taken to see the Colossi of Memnon, the two largest ancient statues in Egypt. Afterwards, you will visit Karnak Temples on the East Bank of Luxor. There you can admire the Hypostyle Hall, Obelisks of Queen Hatshepsut and Tutmosis I, the Temple of Amon. Temples & Tombs of the Pharaohs Full Day Tour
You will be collected from your accommodation and our first stop will be the legendary Valley of the Kings, burial place of Tutankhamun and many of the most famous pharaohs in history, including Rameses II and Seti I. A ticket giving access to visit three tombs is available. From there we continue to Queen Hatshepsut's Temple, where the carved reliefs depict the expedition to the mysterious land of Punt. We shall then continue to the Colossi of Memnon (for which there are no entrance fees), the statues of Amenhotep III and all that remains of his mortuary temple, with a stop on the way to visit an alabaster workshop to see the artisans continuing this traditional craft, and you have the opportunity to try it yourself, before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant (vegetarian or vegan available). After lunch we shall travel to Karnak, the largest temple complex in the world, complete with its original sacred lake, and the recently-opened Avenue of Sphinxes. We shall then travel to visit Luxor Temple, before ending the day with a boat trip to see sunset on the Nile, with refreshments, before returning you to your accommodation.
