Gentle but effective workouts - suitable for people with physical restrictions.

In this class we practise 'Adaptive Yoga’ which is designed to make yoga accessible to more people, especially those who have injuries, limitations, disabilities or those who are elderly. This course is for anyone wanting to reclaim mobility in a gentle way.

Yoga isn't practised only on a mat. You can incorporate yoga poses in everyday tasks like brushing your teeth, washing the dishes, or sitting on the couch! In fact, the couch adds a nice layer of resistance, which will help you get the maximum benefit from each pose whilst being supported and comfy.

We will begin the practice with breathing exercises to switch the body from an alert state to a calm state, followed by gentle movement to strengthen the mind-body connection, and we’ll end with a short meditation to help boost the immune system.

This is a judgment-free-zone and you are encouraged to go at your own pace! Each workout can be 'adapted' to suit your requirements so you’ll find yourself enjoying exercise – at the level you truly need.

Other things to note
Remember, the bigger the screen - the better the experience, so try to join from your laptop!
(tip: if you can plug it directly into your modem with an Ethernet cable - the connection will be always be better than using Wifi).
If you're using a mobile phone -try to get a tripod to hold it!

Hi! I’m Paulo.

Did you know there are several types of yoga? Well, there are, and I have been exposed to many of them.

I am a certified 500 Hrs yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance and am trained in Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Tapasya Hot Yoga, and specially trained in Adaptive Yoga for Disabilities. I have been teaching yoga since 2013 and have taught in Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and now in London.

I believe yoga is a personal journey - that each mindful practice is more than physically knowing the body - but a progressive discovery into your very being. My philosophy is to share the joy of yoga so that the student can explore, experience and empower both themselves and others through yoga practice.

I also have a degree a Chemistry and that was the start of my yoga journey.

Had ankle surgery 1 month ago and have been sitting so much; this was a wonderful way to do yoga from my couch. Paulo was absolutely lovely.

Paulo is just GREAT! I've joined a class with my Japanese students, all of them felt big “happiness” after spending time with Paulo. We've learnt to unite breath and movement, body and mind...I highly recommend Paulo's lesson especially who lives in Japan/don't have enough space to use yoga mat, you only need a chair! Loved his calm and peaceful lesson.

What an amazing exerience. I have MS and would recommend this for anyone able or not. Paulo's was so welcoming and his instructions are clear and easy to follow and he checks in with you to make sure you are ok often. I had a great feeling of achievement at the end of the session and that i had worked pretty much every part of my body. Considering you are based on the couch it was a huge suprise to me how much you can do. Thoroughly recommend Paulo and adaptive yoga

I never thought yoga could be passive and still get a work out. I loved Paulo's small movements that really activated each body part. It didn't feel strenuous but certainly strengthening. I can see how over time couch yoga could be as effective as going to the gym! Loved the meditation practices and breathing exercises. Calm and stretched. Highly recommend.

Very good yoga practise and friendly too. Paulo gave me a lot of time and attention and we were in a lovely location. We took extra time finding our spots in the park, and enjoyed it. Paulo responds to personal needs r.e. practise.
