Mit fogunk csinálni?

Enjoy downtown in the early morning!

We will visit the most famous gourmet market in Mexico City before the official opening hour. After shopping the ingredients for our menu, we will walk 15 minutes across Chinatown and the most beautiful paedestrian street Downtown. We will see the most beautiful buildings (Bellas Artes Palace, Palacio Nacional, Catedral, Zocalo) and I will show some hidden gems of this ancestral city in the early morning before it gets crowded.

At my kitchen, we will have a moment to rest with mexican fresh fruit water while I explain some interesting facts about mexican and prehispanic food. After that, we will be ready to cook 7 of the most typical and famous mexican and prehispanic dishes such as: Tlacoyos, HandMade Tortillas, Nopales, Tlayudas, Guacamole and 2 typical mexican salsas molcajeteadas.

Once we finish with the cooking, we will sit at the table in order to eat our delicious food

To provide a safe and comfortable environment, we will start very early in the morning before market opens to the public, groups will be reduced and we all will be asked to wear face mask, mantain social distancing, use hand sanitizer and remove shoes indoors. We will have access all the time to sanitizing supplies and appropriate equipment for each participant

I am a Mexican chef proud of my cultural heritage and deeply in love with Mexico and its food. In addition to my studies and experience in the gastronomic field, the best recipes I have, come from my family. I have studies in kitchens and food culture of Mexico by the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH). I have traveled to many places (inside and outside of Mexico). I really like meeting people and other cultures. I am excited to share my love and passion for Mexico and my roots through food.

I highly recommend this experience! If you are passionate about food and curious about Mexican culture, this is the perfect experience for you. The market tour was really nice, we really enjoyed sampling and learning about Mexican ingredients. She also shared bits of history during the walk, which was really interesting and appreciated. We were nervous to make tortillas for the first time, but she made us very comfortable and was very encouraging. The food was delicious and we really did feel like we arrived as strangers and left as friends.

Diana was a great host. She showed us around the market, where we tasted many new things and learned much. We then walked to her house where she explained some of Mexico City's history. At her house she explained the history of Mexican food and taught us how to make our own tortillas, salsa, gauc, and my favorite Tlayudas, plus more. Worth the time for sure.

This cooking class is a great way to start your day! It was also nice seeing the inside of a market. The tour also included a little education & history about the foods we were about to prepare. Diana is very upbeat and sweet.

THIS.IS.THE.MOST. PERFECT.MEXICAN.EXPERIENCE. We spent hours vetting through Air BnB Mexico City experiences, and ended up signing up for FIVE. While they were all fantastic, I have to say that Diana absolutely CRUSHED it for me and my 14 year old SON with her warmth, passion for Mexican food, and hospitality. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to appreciate Diana's passion for Mexico and Mexican cooking...she oozes enthusiasm and couldn't contain it if she had to. In fact, Diana abandoned her career to share Mexican food and Mexico with visitors lucky enough to benefit from her experiences....she lives this passion from the inside out, and we left feeling blessed beyond measure for this precious opportunity to share in her passion. Diana dedicated 6+ hours to us today - and we cherished every last second of her time. We truly feel like we made a genuine friend in Diana and she continued to extend care after we left by sending us several resources for Covid testing (required for our return trip). I wish I could upload videos from today because it's hard to convey how absolutely delightful and enthusiastic she is...it's truly contagious and captivating... Our day started at the exotic market where she communicated very clear directions with photos to meet her. We were late and she was gracious and patient with us. She led us to the most fabulous (and FAIR) coffee -- it is award winning and the barrister is adorable too. She then took us for samples of Oaxaca cheese (you'll never find someone more proud of Oaxaca than Diana!). After that she got brave and offered us grasshoppers in a variety of flavors, corn nuts with jalapeno and habanero, and peanuts with garlic...and then even more samples, including Mexican Chocolate! cha cha cha! (We should note that we're pescatarians and we limited her options with our diet constraints...but she was beyond gracious , flexible and competent in meeting our needs). The market tour was fascinating and everyone loves Diana in the market (who wouldn't?!). We learned insights and foods I'd never discover on my own. The walk to Diana's place was magical as it's nearly 100% on a pedestrian mall and surrounded by beautiful art, architecture, stores, culture and history. Diana gave us a wealth of information around the history of the city dating as far back as 500+ years. She captivated us with her pearls of wisdom and we learned much more than we expected from a 'cooking tour.'. I think she could have a second career in touring Mexico DF to be honest. I didn't realize that Diana lives right next to the zocalo - PRIME REAL ESTATE...in the most convenient location. Her home is darling and reveals her sweet, creative nature. We walked in to discover a colorful dry erase board welcoming us and featuring our menu for the day...all vegetarian, and accessible (per my request...I"m a pedestrian in the kitchen). The table was decorated with all kinds of peppers, colored corns, cooking tools and Mexican ingredients. What could have been terribly boring 'talk' about ingredients, turned out to be fascinating and we kept asking her to start over so we could record her insights and stories on video. She's truly captivating and this instruction was my 14 year old son's favorite part. MY favorite part was cooking with Diana...she was highly skilled in keeping us both busy, educated and engaged the entire time, and somehow we managed to create 8-9 different entrees in a short time (my absolute must as I have no time to cook in USA). Diana's pedagogy is fantastic and shes has all kinds of little tricks to show us how to do t right and to verify that we're doing it right. For example when I mixed her fresh masa with water, she showed me 2 fun and easy strategies to confirm I had the perfect water/masa ratio. Every last bite was delicious and abundant...beyond my wildest imagination. I'm STILL full! In addition to going WAY above and beyond with her menu and tour and time and insights... Diana was remarkably responsive to our needs, diets, interests and requests. She changed dates for us when the weather forecast changed and we wanted to see the butterflies. When my son expressed an interest in sweet bread, she went out of her way to show us the best sweet bread experience in MC. And when we expressed interest in Mexican chocolate, she helped us secure the tools and ingredients we need to make hot chocolate. When I asked Diana about the Mexican flags up in her apartment, she walked us down to the fabulous market near her apartment to find them for my classroom. She doesn't miss a single opportunity to make your life more wonderful, and will make Mexico even more colorful, warm, and TASTY than you'll believe is possible. Don't miss out on this opportunity...and be sure to show up HUNGRY so you can exploit the full potential of this magical experience. And bring extra $$ with you in the event you discover new passions like we did today (we came home with all kinds of fun supplies for Mexican chocolate from the market - and I"ll be getting a toritilla press before we go too!) Approveche!

Incredible experience with an amazing host. Diana had extensive knowledge about the city, history and culture. Her relationships with the vendors at the market added a really nice personal touch. We got to sample many local delicacies and I don’t think we would have had the opportunity to do this elsewhere. We signed up for a cooking class but also got an in depth look at the history of Mexico City. Overall, highly recommend this experience!

Diana was very friendly, and we meet at a predetermined location near Mercado San Juan. She knew a lot about the history of food and Mexico. We walked through the historic center to her apartment. There, we made lunch. It was an immersive experience in which we made tortillas, salads, and salsas. Diana was really helpful and answered all our questions. A wonderful way to spent a morning!
